Depending on where you’ve spent the summer (or depending on your fondness like us towards pumpkin lattes, cozy fires, and color-changing leaves), you might be itching for fall weather. Even if you don’t want summer to slip away just yet, we have the latest on what you can expect to see in stores this fall.

We talked with style expert Bridgette Raes to get a sneak peek of this year’s cool-weather trends. Check out the ones she’s most looking forward to!

'60s Mod Fall 2014 Trend

The ’60s are back with clean, modern silhouettes and bold color combinations. When you’re on the hunt for this trend, look for solid colors and retro prints like geometric shapes. When we think 1960s, we think color blocking. You can create your own color-blocked look by pairing solid-hued pieces together — like blue and orange (our favorite combination of the season)! When shopping retro, keep your eyes open for straight and sleek shapes. The ’60s were all about shift dresses and A-line skirts.

Pair with cat eye readers to complete the look (we chose The Brit in black for ours).

Black and White Fall 2014 Trend

Black and white never goes out of style, but this fall we’re making it a wardrobe staple. Keep it casual for afternoon errands or dress it up for a day at the office — that’s the best part about the ebony and ivory trend! You can add spunk to your closet with big and bold black-and-white prints. With neutral hues like these, you have a lot of freedom when it comes to accessories. Try pairing with colorful pieces, or simply swipe on your best red lips and you’re ready to go!

If you’ll be out-and-about, complete the look with the Jacqueline Bifocal Reading Sunglasses.

Fall Florals 2014 Trend

Who said florals are just for spring and summer? We sure didn’t! Style blogger Bridgette Raes told us that florals both big and small will be a top trend this fall. She did make a distinction between summer and fall prints, though. Summer florals are bright and bold. This fall, we’re grabbing for dark, rich hues and patterns in autumnal shades.

Complete the look with a pair of simple, trendy readers (we chose The Laura in black for ours).

Shades of Grey Fall 2014 Trend

A book, a movie, and now a style trend — shades of grey are our go-to this season! This trend is simple, easy, and makes for a timeless look. There are two ways you can style with grey this fall: grab for accessories and small touches of grey, or dress in a monochromatic outfit in a variety of different shades. With this trend, you can play with patterns and textures or even brighten it up with a pop of color.

We love the idea of monochromatic, so we paired this look with The Brookside readers in clear grey.
