Here at RGS, fall is the greatest season of them all. And with everything from pumpkin picking and ghoulish ghosts to cider sipping and fireside chats, there’s certainly enough fun for the entire family! Our favorite part about the season? Transforming our homes into the perfect place to spend all of those cozy nights in.

Here are our must-haves for a festive fall oasis. Bring on the pumpkin spiced candles!

Fall decoration ideas

1. Spooky Mantel

Decorate for Halloween with spider webs, old clocks, shiny skulls, candelabras, and pumpkins. Nothing says spooky-chic quite like a black and silver color scheme, accented with a few touches of orange. (source)

2. Candy Display

Keep things cute with an adorable candy display. Place different sized vases on a  tray of moss, fill with candy, and attach clever name signs like “Crows Bones” for yogurt-covered pretzels and “Pumpkin Teeth” for candy corn. (source)

3. Cider Creations

It’s not fall without apple pie, candy apples, and apple cider! Heat up a cup of cider and add a stick of cinnamon (or try this recipe for a delicious spiked version) and pair your creations with cute fall napkins. For more drink inspiration, try these other cold weather beverages!

4. DIY Bunting

We love the textured, homey feel of this DIY fall bunting! Once Halloween passes, transform your mantel into a rustic celebration by cutting burlap triangles, stringing them to rope, and stenciling on fall letters.

5. Backyard Bonfires

Fall’s cool, crisp temperatures are perfect for hosting a bonfire in the backyard. Whether you’re inviting neighbors over or throwing one just because, be sure to have s’mores supplies and hot cocoa on hand. (source)

6. Soft Blankets

These are an absolute must for the season! We put piles of cuddly throws just about everywhere — especially by the fireplace. There’s nothing better than a family movie night, with everyone curled up by the fire beneath a soft blanket. (source)

7. Spiced Scents

From pumpkin spice to nutmeg scents, we just can’t get enough of the delectable autumn aromas! Whether you’re baking a pumpkin pie or lighting a candle in these DIY pumpkin holders, the smells of fall will welcome all to your comforting home.

8. Fall-themed Books

Fall books for the kids/grandkids are the perfect coffee table companion! They’re conversation starters, instant activities, and add a splash of fall whimsy, too. For the grown-up crowd, take a peek at this fall reading list for 2012.

9. Cozy Quotes

Who doesn’t love a couple of feel-good quotes lying around the house? Take those fall warm-fuzzies to the next level by displaying them on chalkboards. We love the idea of hanging them up as a focal point to an entryway or side table — and don’t forget to accent with antique lamps and fall foliage! (source)

10. Fall Foliage

Get creative with your fall foliage this year! Paint chic patterns on pumpkins, place branches in a vase, set up a mum display on your front step, and use outdoor leaves as garland! We love this gorgeous autumn wreath for our Thanksgiving table, complete with a smooth velvet ribbon.
