Home DIY projects make for great weekend activities. While weekends tend to fill up with plans, it’s a great feeling when you find yourself with an open Saturday and time to craft. Once you finally find yourself with extra time on your hands, nothing kills the crafting buzz faster than needing to go out and buy all of your materials. To make sure you have a well-rounded supply kit, we’ve put together a list of craft staples you’ll most likely need to begin your DIY project.

1. Claw Hammer

It is good to have a hammer for those projects that require a little extra handiness.

2. Mason Jars

Mason Jars provide endless options for DIY projects. You can paint them, hang them, or use them as decor in their original form. Having Mason Jars on hand is an easy way to get your crafting fix.

3. Stencils

Stencils allow you to create without dragging out all of your DIY supplies, and are an easy way to learn calligraphy or create beautiful cards.

Twine is a crafting essential that works for a variety of DIY projects.

5. Variety of Paint

Many DIY projects include paint. Having a variety of paints (paint pens, chalkboard paint, outdoor paint, watercolor, spray paint) will equip you for making colorful creations that you’re proud of.

6. Faux Flowers

Faux flowers make great accessories for pieces of decor. Whether you’re creating a vase or homemade garland, having faux flowers on hand will add the perfect finishing touch.

7. Scissors

If you are setting out to do a DIY project it is inevitable that you will be needing a pair of trusty scissors.

8. Bifocals

Directions: To create this warm and welcoming place setting, simply fold the napkin and place the tulip or decoration in the center. Finish by loosely tying the ribbon around the tulip and napkin. Not only will guests love being greeted by this piece, but they will also enjoy having a sweet flower to take home.

5. Slow cooker pineapple glazed carrots

For the perfect Easter side dish that adds a punch of flavor, try pineapple glazed carrots.  

Ingredients: 2 lbs carrots peeled and sliced, 1 (540ml) can pineapple tidbits with juice (or about 2 cups), ½ cups brown sugar, 3 Tbsp balsamic vinegar, ¾ tsp. salt, 2 tbsp. cornstarch

Directions:

• In a medium bowl, combine pineapple with juice, sugar, vinegar, salt, and cornstarch until combined.
• Add carrots to slow cooker. Pour pineapple over top and stir well.
• Cover and cook on low for 5-6 hours or high for 3-4 hours until tender. Serve.
