Meet Oscar, a farmer in a remote village in Guatemala who earns a living by harvesting and selling beans. When the RestoringVision team met Oscar, he was unable to see close up and couldn’t clean and sort his bean crop due to his near vision impairment. He had been sharing a pair of reading glasses with his wife—glasses that were given to her “a long time ago.” “I couldn’t work if she was using the glasses, and she couldn’t work if I was using them either,” said Oscar. They both received a new pair of glasses with the diopter they each needed. Now they can both work and be productive at the same time. “These glasses have changed our lives so much,” said Oscar.
