Using a printable diopter eading test card

If you're purchasing reading glasses online, you can use our printable diopter chart. With the printed sheet 14" away, attempt to read the top line without reading glasses. Continue down the chart until you find a line you can read clearly without your glasses on – this is the diopter (power/magnification) you need.

Test various reading magnifications

Prescriptions for reading glasses increase by 0.25 diopters, such as +1.00, +1.25, +1.50, and so on. However, for simplicity, some diopter charts may increase by 0.50 or by the whole number. Start by trying on reading glasses in the power that your test results yielded. You'll want to test out several pairs that are both weaker and stronger than your test results. Narrow it down to two magnifications — both of which you see well with — and always choose the lower of the two powers.

Short-lived

"I loved these glasses when I found them on the Readers. com site. The color is unique and I was excited to get them along with other readers I purchased at the same time. The problem is I've only worn these a couple of times, and the left lens popped out because the frame was cracked. I have not abused these at all and understand that glasses don't last forever, but they should last at least a couple of wears!"

"These are so cute and I love them but the bow cracked and broke in about a month, as did the second pair too!!"

Don't buy these

"Well, they work if you look straight ahead, but if you move your eyes at all, you experience MAJOR peripheral distortion!! Kinda like old movies when a character has been drugged. . . These were on sale for $4, but still not worth it. Unusable. I vote to discontinue this one. The other glasses in my order were excellent as usual."

Plastic was brittle and broke

"I purchased two pairs of glasses from Readers. com including this style as well as The Arnold Multifocal Reader. In less than a month the Arnold cracked in part surrounding the lens, and while I tried to be overly careful with this pair, they soon cracked in a similar place. While the glasses worked fine and I liked their appearance, the plastic is brittle and breaks easily. Overall, the quality was far below my expectations. Today, I'm still using my old pair of readers purchased from a chain department store at a similar price that are over 2 years old. Order #3947488"

One frame broke

"I ordered 4 pairs in this order. This one in particular broke and I only use them for 40 minutes and keep them on my nightstand. The arms are small and as flimsy as what you get at dollar store. The color description said green but they look black. Very disappointed ☹ï¸"

"I got these in January, and used them lightly in the house - just for evening reading before bed. They look good, and work, but just broke for apparently no reason at the joint. Nice glasses but don't expect them to stand up to even the most routine use for any length of time."
