How to discover your Reading Glasses Power

Using a printable diopter eading test card

If you're purchasing reading glasses online, you can use our printable diopter chart. With the printed sheet 14" away, attempt to read the top line without reading glasses. Continue down the chart until you find a line you can read clearly without your glasses on – this is the diopter (power/magnification) you need.

Test various reading magnifications

Prescriptions for reading glasses increase by 0.25 diopters, such as +1.00, +1.25, +1.50, and so on. However, for simplicity, some diopter charts may increase by 0.50 or by the whole number. Start by trying on reading glasses in the power that your test results yielded. You'll want to test out several pairs that are both weaker and stronger than your test results. Narrow it down to two magnifications — both of which you see well with — and always choose the lower of the two powers.
*The power selected will apply to all the pairs inside the multipack.

— Dana C. (5/5)

"My husband’s favorite glasses!"

— Jodi (5/5)

Too dark

"I like the glasses, but the picture shown is misleading. The lenses are a lot darker, even the lower half. Nothing like what is pictured"

— Mark (3/5)

There is no periphery vision

"There is no periphery vision because the power changes drastically to both sides and even up & down I use these these the for driving so they are not usable Klay Roberts"

— KLAY R. (1/5)

I thought I ordered bifocal

"I thought I ordered bifocal readers but I guess not. That’s what I was searching for but must have had these pop up at some point. My fault for not looking closer"

— Stacia K. (3/5)

Great price and look just

"Great price and look just as pictured. I will get lots of wear out of these this summer."

— Dara V. (5/5)

The ones I ordered were

"The ones I ordered were silver with grey lens. The ones I received were gold with, I believe, near amber lenses. This puts me in the position of having to paint my older set so I can tell which one I have taken for the drive; NOT GOOD. The ad page shows gradient glasses with the tint extending only 50% or less down the lens, which is MUCH BETTER for DRIVING. The ones I received are sadly not that way."

— john m. (1/5)

They good

"They good"
